Simon Penrose
Simon has a career spanning over 30 years in the construction industry during which time he has held a variety of senior management posts with Major National Contracting organisations.
Simon joined Shepherd Construction Limited as a management trainee in 1973, where his career began as a trainee planning engineer. Simon’s career developed with roles in Project and Contracts Management before going on to hold posts at both Regional and Divisional Management level with Major National Contractors; Norwest Holst Construction Limited, hbg Construction Limited, Allenbuild and Wates Construction limited. More recently, Simon has worked as a Project Director on a major PFI health care project where he successfully took the project from Preferred Bidder to Financial Close.
During the last 30 years Simon has gained experience on a wide and varied list of projects ranging in construction value from £1.5million to £44million. Project experience has included that of both private development and Institutional buildings. The varied range of projects has meant that he has developed a good understanding of standard building contract forms including: - JCT Traditional and Design and Build, JCT IFC (on medium size projects), NEC Engineering and Construction, GC Works on both Traditional and Design and Build forms, PPC 2000, Partnered Negotiated Contracts, JCT Management Contracting and Construction Management, and a wide range of bespoke forms of Sub-Contract. This management and contracting experience coupled with his planning background gives Simon a thorough understanding of the rights and remedies related to the cause and effect of delay and disruption on construction projects.
Simons background in construction planning and his knowledge of Critical Path Analysis and related modern software applications, together with his wide and varied technical and commercial experience, has had proven results in demonstrating entitlement for extensions of time and loss and expense on complex construction projects.
